Manufactured between 1881 and 1979, the Darne uses a novel mobile breech assembly with a set of fixed barrels, the reverse of virtually every side by side shotgun on the market. Fitted with a single bead sight on the lightly engraved dished rib, with the St. Etienne proofs on the underside of the barrel group and an import mark on the underside of the rib. The frame is lightly engraved and equipped with a gold accented safety switch, and the breechblock shows a fine set of scroll and floral decorations, punch-dot borders and sculpted designs on the recoil shields. Fitted with a checkered knob grip one-piece stock and a serrated horn buttplate. Measurements: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .673 inches; wall thickness at 9 inches from breech right .057/left .057 inch; muzzle diameter right .648/.639 inch (approximately improved modified); chamber 2 3/4 inches; drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 3/8 inches; cast off; weight 5 pounds 11.2 ounces.

Very good as refinished, with 80% of the current blue, showing some gray streaking and mild handling marks. The frame and breech have turned a mixed gray, with some light spotting. The stock is very good, lightly cleaned with light dents. Mechanically very good.
