Description:

Manufactured from 1875 to 1889 with pinched front and frame notch rear sights and the top of the barrel marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." The serial number is marked on the left side of the frame under the grip panel and on the back of the left grip panel. The butt has a lanyard ring. Fitted with smooth grips featuring the caliber marking "44" on the left grip panel near the bottom. The Remington Model 1875 was intended to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver, and it proved to be a well-designed and popular handgun. Remington manufactured an estimated 25,000-30,000 Model 1875 revolvers before production ceased in 1889.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 40% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The grips are very good with a stamp, some minor pressure dents, high edge wear and a small chip missing near the frame (left panel). Mechanically fine.
