Manufactured in 1989 as part of Colt's "American Heroes Series", this pistol is serial number JF0001. As confirmed by the included factory letter, the pistol "was an early production sample and display pistol kept by the Colt factory" and issued when Foss was serving his second year as president of the NRA.
