Description:

This is a rare instance of the factory using a competitors product on their guns. In this case it was probably just to check out the competition since the gun remained in the factory. The gun has factory top mounted peep sight (which was original equipment since the barrel has no rear sight slot). The Mossberg scope is on a large adjustable mount on the left side of the barrel behind the Winchester marking. This was one of the items given to Norm Flayderman for his appraisal of the Winchester Museum prior to its removal to Cody. It is featured in his catalog 99, #1256. The rifle retains the Winchester Museum stamped metal tag featuring the number "2480." Additional features are that the gun cocks on closing and the stock contours are slightly thinner. The left side of the barrel has the Winchester legend, and the top of the barrel and receiver have a Winchester factory oval proof at the breech. Mounted with a smooth pistol grip stock with a checkered plastic factory buttplate. Formerly of the Peter and Patty Murray Collection.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus original blue finish showing limited handling/storage marks. The stock is fine with a minor crack and an area of shallow dings on the forearm (right side) and a thumb print size pressure dent in the grip area. Mechanically excellent.
