Manufactured post 1906 with the "A" prefix in the serial number. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two-line address/patent dates, and the caliber designation is at the left rear. The upper tang is marked "Marlin/MODEL 97", and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for scope/sight mounting. Dovetailed beaded blade front and adjustable rear sporting sights, 2/3 length magazine tube, blue finish with casehardened receiver and lever, and mounted with a smooth varnished walnut forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip stock with a checkered hard rubber Marlin shotgun buttplate.

Very fine. The rifle retains 99% original blue and casehardened finish showing some mild edge wear on the receiver. The revarnished wood is also very fine with a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
