Description:

Marked with the 1873 to mid-1876 "MODEL/1873/eagle head/crossed arrows/US" markings on the high arch breechblock. The bottom of the butt has "F" just behind the trigger guard where the script "P" is usually located and "F/40" inlaid near the toe. There are no cartouches. The sights and other features are standard. Includes a "US" marked bayonet, scabbard, and frog with brass "US" hanger.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of the original finish, mottled patina mixed with light oxidation and pitting on the balance, various marks and scratches throughout, some small chips on the replacement stock, and a few slight stock repairs. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet and accessories are very good.
