Description:

Manufactured in 1856 and falls towards the end of the early "Navy-Navy" range (55500-62000) within the late Third Model 1851 Colt Navy range with iron grip straps in lieu of the normally used brass. This example has the large "U*S*N" marking on the butt and the standard "U.S." marking below the patent marking on the frame. The grip also has the "JRMM" inspector stamp on the right side of the butt. It otherwise has the standard markings and features including matching partial and full serial numbers stamped throughout and the matching partial serial number "1215" written in the back strap inlet of the grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly smooth brown and gray patina throughout and some light spotting. The grip is fair and has multiple chips along the lower edges, a crack on the right sight near the back strap, and scrapes and small dents. Most of the noticeable wear on the revolver is located at the butt on the back strap and grip where it is chipped and dinged up, likely from use as a hammer. It remains mechanically fine and has mostly distinct markings including the cylinder scene.
