Offered here is a beautiful pair of high conditioned Zaoue of Marseille cased percussion pistols with accessories. Zaoue of Marseille is listed in Stockel with the work dates 1845 to 1855. The barrels are rifled and gauge at approximately .44 caliber. The pistols are fitted with fixed sights and plain triggers. The lock plates are marked "Zaoue" in gold ahead of the hammers. The furniture is unadorned giving the pistols a plain handsome appearance. Gun "A" has "0" in gold on the barrel tang and breech plug. Gun "B" has "1" in gold on the barrel tang and breech plug. The barrels have a high polished blue finish and the remaining surfaces are casehardened including the buttcaps and spur trigger guards. The nicely figured half stocks feature fluted grips and a high relief floral carved motif on the forearms. The single barrel wedge is engraved as well as the escutcheons. The case has a brass inlaid shield with the initials "CD" on the exterior of the lid and "ZAOUE/FABT. D'ARMES Bte/ENTREPOT a MARSEILLE" in gold on the inside of the padded lid. The case is lined in royal purple velvet. The accessories include a ladle, small powder flask, cap container, mallet, wrench, bullet mold, screwdriver, oiler, lead balls, ramrod and cleaning rod with attachments.

Excellent. The barrel retains 97% plus original bright high polished blue finish showing some minor handling marks. The remaining surfaces retain 97% original case colors. There is some minor pitting on the buttcap. The stock is also excellent showing limited minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks, a crack on the front and faded, otherwise fine, original lining having some wear. A high conditioned pair of cased French percussion pistols that would be a great addition to a 19th century European firearm collection.
