Manufactured in 1890 for the U.S. Government. This revolver features blade front and frame notch rear sights, and the later style oval ejector rod head. The top of the barrel is marked with the later, block style one-line address, the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent date marking followed by "U.S.". The complete matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap, and the partial serial number "1678" is marked on the barrel under the ejector rod housing and on the cylinder. The small inspector markings "RAC" and "P" are marked on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the cylinder pin and on the cylinder. There is a "K" below the serial number on the back strap and the butt and "R.A.C." above the frame serial number. The loading gate is marked with assembly number "404". The revolver is fitted with smooth one piece walnut grip with an illegible boxed cartouche under "1890" on the left side and "RAC" on the right side.

Very good. The revolver retains 40% of the thinning original blue finish on the barrel with the front sight having been replaced and refinished around the muzzle. The outer edge of the ejector rod housing has a smooth gray patina, while the protected areas retain almost all of the original blue finish. The cylinder has a plum patina on the flats and almost all of the original blue finish in the flutes. The grip straps have a smooth gray patina and there is strong original blue finish in the protected areas of the trigger guard. The frame has a smooth gray patina with strong traces of bright original case colors in protected areas. The grip is good with wear on the lower edges and some scattered minor dents and dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
