Description:

Manufactured circa 1857 to 1860. The top of the rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS". The underside of the barrel is stamped "Crown/NP 22"-408"-6.5 TONS" under the ejector pin. The cylinder is stamped "Crown/P" in between the cylinder stops. A "Crown/P" is stamped on the underside of the frame forward the spur trigger. The entire serial number "1191" is stamped on the face of the barrel, cylinder, butt, and on each grip stock. Round blade front sight with top strap notched rear sight. Blue barrel and cylinder with silver-plated brass frame. Rosewood grips with square butt. Accompanied by a period original English case. Wood is deluxe English walnut fitted with a brass shield and banner motif on the lid. The interior is lined with blue velvet and is complete with cleaning rod and a box of 22 short smokeless ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel retains about 10% original blue all in sheltered areas the balance has been brushed to a mottled gray patina showing scratches down the length from brushing. The address is still visible. 20% original blue finish remains on the cylinder with the balance a mottled brown. 95% original and strong silver plating remains on the frame with a hint of brass thinning on high spots and showing some scattered scratches and dings. The grips are fine showing an old recoated varnish and some scattered some overall pressure marks. The case is excellent showing only minor pressure marks.
