Offered here are two Smith & Wesson Model Number One, 2nd Issue revolvers with matching New York style engraving and back strap inscription. The engraving consists of floral scrollwork on a punch dot background that appears on the barrel lugs, left barrel flats at the muzzle and frame sides. The one-line rib address is inside a wavy line panel accented with entwining lines at the front. Each cylinder and butt have different styles of engraving. The cylinders have floral and ribbon motifs and the butts have dot and entwining lines motifs. Entwining lines and star bursts are engraved on the back strap that is inscribed "A.W.POTTER/from his/Lady Friends." At the time of this writing, A.W. Potter has not been identified. For each revolver the assembly number matches on the barrel and cylinder. The case holds both revolvers and an empty box of UMC cartridges with the lid label having an illustration of a S&W Model Number One revolver.

Very fine. The revolver retains 97% of the New York retailer applied sliver plating showing some flaking and blistering on the cylinder. The grips are excellent The action needs work as the hammer does not hold at the full cock position. The case is very good with the lid plaque missing, replacement lock, minor handling/storage marks and high spot wear on the faded lining.
