Manufactured from 1868 to 1881 with a total production of about 131,163. Round blade front sight with notched rear sight. The barrel is properly marked on the left side of the barrel in one line: "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. PAT. ARP. 3. 55 JULY 5. 59 DEC. 1860" flanked by Maltese crosses. Matching serial number on the frame and right grip panel, with the barrel and cylinder marked "OG". Fitted with smooth rosewood bird shead stocks.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% original nickel plated finish which has started to take on a frosted overall appearance. The barrel shows some minor handling marks. The last patent dates are some what faint otherwise markings are clear. Edges are sharp and crisp. The cylinder has some isolated flaking around the flutes. The frame exhibits some oxidation color around the screws. The grips are good with some varnish loss. A fine original nickel plated Smith & Wesson with desirable short barrel.
