A) Smith & Wesson No. 1 Second Issue Revolver with Factory Letter

Description:

The included factory letter confirms the barrel length, finishes and grips. It was part of a 100 gun shipment to Enoch Woods Co. of Chicago on July 30, 1866. Matching assembly number "3C" on barrel and cylinder. The right grip panel is numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% original blue finish and the cylinder retains 60% original blue finish with the overall balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains 97% original silver plating. The grips are very good with a repaired chip near the top (left panel), some minor handling marks and retaining nearly all of the finish. Mechanically excellent.

Description:

Manufactured from 1868 to 1875. It has the one-line address/patent dates marking on the rib, matching assembly number on the barrel and cylinder and right grip panel is numbered to the gun. Comes with a 2001 dated David Condon, Inc. receipt.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% original nickel finish showing some minor flaking (mostly in the cylinder flutes). The grips are fine with high edge wear, a series of pressure marks near the bottom (left panel) and retaining much of the finish. Mechanically excellent.
