Manufactured circa 1880s. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line Merwin Hulbert & Co. address and patent dates, and the left side is marked with the one line Hopkins & Allen address. The left side of the frame below the cylinder is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER 1873". The serial number is marked on the butt. The matching assembly number "3700" is marked on the rear of the barrel lug, rear cylinder face, left side of the front strap under the grip and on the inside of the right grip panel. Integral blade front and frame notch rear sights. Nickel finish with casehardened hammer, trigger, trigger guard and barrel latch, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with a circle at the top and a lanyard ring on the butt. Comes with an unmarked brown leather flap holster.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% plus original nickel finish with a cylinder drag line and some scattered minor dings and scratches. The hammer retains almost all of the original bright case colors. The trigger guard shows strong original case colors on the upper sides with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. All of the original bright case colors remain on the back of the trigger and the front has a smooth mottled gray patina. The grips have faded a bit and despite a moderate chip on the lower left panel, remain very good with very crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action does not lock tight(there is a little play in the cylinder); otherwise, the action functions well. The holster is poor with loose stitching on the barrel plug, heavy wear, and some tears.
