Manufactured in 1929 and later professionally engraved. The stainless steel barrel has the original and distinctive black "Japan" finish. These stainless steel barrels were very short lived and are rarely encountered today. The balance is blue. The left side of the barrel has the two-block Winchester information above "-STAINLESS STEEL-." The Winchester oval proof is marked on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Matching serial number is found on the receiver and trigger guard plate. It has dovetail beaded blade and elevation adjustable sights. The receiver features a border and scroll engraving along with circular panel scenes featuring a squirrel on the left side and a hunting dog on point on the right side. The scrollwork extends to the forend cap. Mounted with a checkered forearm and stock with a crescent buttplate.

Very fine as professionally embellished. The barrel retains 97% original black "Japan" finish with loss at the muzzle, thinning at the breech and some minor handling marks. The remaining metal surfaces retain nearly all of the current blue finish with some very scattered pitting under the finish. The replacement wood is very fine showing the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
