Description:

Established in 1865, this is a Frederick Heym rifle built after the turn of the century with a German nitro proofed Martini style action. Ramp front sight with removable semi-hooded pin and a windage and elevation adjustable peep sight mounted on the rear of the receiver. The top flat of the barrel widens near the breech to form a mounting rib, with "Fr. Wilh. Heym" on the upper right flat and "SUHL" on the upper left. Fancy checkered right handed Tyrolean style stock, with Schnabel tip, diamond patterns on the forearm, light scroll designs on the right side of the buttstock, sling swivels with woven leather sling, thumb rest, large cheekpiece and engraved buttstock with small Swiss hook.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 80% of the original blue finish. A light brown patina is forming on the barrel, with some light handling marks and mild spotting. Bright original color is visible on the casehardened parts, especially on the breechblock and peep sight, with some fading to brown and light spotting along the edges and high points. Stock is altered with a 11 1/2 inch length of pull, thumb rest and a few small filled areas, along with some mild scratches. Mechanically excellent.
