Description:

Developed in the period between the World Wars, the 1938 submachine gun was part of a complete overhaul of French small arms. Accepted by the Germans during the occupation as a secondary arm, the '38 saw use by both the Vichy and Free French Forces. Notched blade front and a set of 100 and 200 meter flip-up rear sights, with dust covers for the ejection port and magazine well, integral "flip-forward" trigger safety, a sling ring on the left side along with the markings "CAL, 7,65L MAS Mle 1938 F11815", smooth grip and stock with an un-numbered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 60% arsenal thinning phosphate finish remains with scattered dings and scratches, high point and edge wear, and areas of a thin brown patina. The grip and buttstock have small dings and pressure marks throughout, mostly clear markings, and a 3 1/4 inch crack on the left side behind the receiver junction. Mechanically very good.
