German Military Aviation Group of Walter Hubner Spanning Two World Wars

1) Leather flight helmet without a maker's label or provisions for receivers and with an elastic chin strap. 2) Goggles with tin case. 3-4 are silver items identified to German aeronautical engineer Walter Hübner. 3) German Air Sports Association (Deutscher Luftsportverband or DLV) tray (16 1/2 inches long) with an engraved flight map and the inscription "Dem Organisator des Deutschlandflug 1934 Schwarmführer Hübner in dankbarer Erinnerung die Flugzeugbeiatzungen" (The organizer of the 1934 flight of the Schwarmführer Hübner in grateful remembrance of the aircraft operations). The DLV trained civilians in gliders for the future Luftwaffe during a time when the Treaty of Versailles forbade Germany to have a military force and was dissolved in 1937 to be replaced by the National Socialist Flyers Corps. 4) PFL (believed to stand for Propulsion Field Laboratory) tray (7 7/8 inches) with engraved map of Germany and the inscription "Herrn Diplomingenieur Walter Hübner am 30 Juni 1963 zur Erinnerung an dle Jahre gemeinsamer Arbeit" (Master diploma engineer Walter Hübner on June 30, 1963 to remember the year of joint work). Originally a division of North American Aviation, the PFL was later named Santa Susana Field Laboratory and is located in the Southern California Simi Hills in Simi Valley, California. The facility tested rocket engines for the United States space program from 1949 to 2006, including the F-1 engine used on the Apollo program. 5) Hubner's World War I and interwar period German aviation photographs and postcards. WWI Iron Cross, 1914-1918 Honor Cross with swords, German Olympic Decoration and Wehrmacht Long Service Award 4 years. WWI Iron Cross with vertical pin back, wound badge (1918 version in black) and Luftwaffe pilot badge and WWI Prussian pilot badge. (Hubner)

Condition1 is very good showing some wear and overall tight stitching. 2 is fair with a large dent in the frame and degenerated seal. 3-4 are fine.
