Description:

Developed in 1940 and 1941, known as the M41 cap. Overall construction is tan cloth, with golden wire piping around the crown and on the front third of the band, with a zig-zag machine stitched eagle and cockade patches on the front. The interior is fitted with a leather sweatband and lined in red cloth, which also bears the diamond shaped cloth maker's mark of August Mueller of Munich "Dachauerstr. 123". According to Gary Wilkins Book on German headgear, this particular diamond logo appears from time to time but he didn't have a photograph available. (Pg. 333) Note Munich was the biggest depot area and outfitters for the Mediterranean theater of operations.

Rating Definition:

Good overall, showing some light staining and wear overall. A rectangular black stain, possibly the result of a now-removed inventory tag, is present on top of the lightly creased visor, some cracks and tears are present in the sweatband, and the maker's mark shows some fraying along the right side. A fine general officer's cap with evidence of honest age and use.
