Description:

Offered here is a rare early World War II German Fallschirmjager gas mask with bag. It was in World War II that the German Fallschirmjager were the first paratroopers to be committed in large scale airborne operations. The mask has the painted number "0285." The filter is marked with the large boxed "eagle/swastika WaA320" acceptance proof and "AB" followed by "1938/1494" and "1617/1672" as well as "FE37." Both lenses are marked "L.E. 1940 Innenseite." The carrying bag has a flap with two snaps and a pull on the zipper which allowed the user to quickly access the gas mask in the dark. A second bag for gas detection is stamped with a number on the inside of the flap.

Rating Definition:

The gas mask is very fine with 95% of the original paint remaining and typical cloudy lenses. The straps are complete. The pouch is very good with a few holes. This is a fine example of an early World War II Fallschirmjager gas mask that is rarely encountered. A perfect addition to a World War II German military collection.
