This is an extremely rare example of a German WWII SS camouflage face veil. The Type 2 veil attaches around a helmet via an elastic band. The veil is fully reversible with autumn and summer colors. Introduced in 1936, the face veil was deemed too cumbersome and withdrawn from use early in the war but was reissued in 1942 and remained in service for the remainder of the war.
