Description:

This example was prepared for the Waffen-SS and features their black-on-silver "sig rune" shield on the side, "31422" and "C56" stamped inside the skirt, "ANDRE R." in white paint inside the skirt, a 1940 dated maker's mark on the chinstrap and brown leather webbing ink-stamped "58". Andre R. has not been identified. Of final and critical note is the cover, constructed from three core pieces of Eichenlaubmuster-A (Oak Leaf Pattern A) cloth, a SS-particular camouflage style featuring a double-sided spring-summer/autumn woodland pattern optimized for continental warfare, and further enhanced with a set of cloth tab slots for mounting additional camouflage material, typically local leaves and plant matter. The cover is secured with a visor flap and a set of three spring loaded hooks, making the entire cover reversible in the field dependent on the user's needs at the time.

Rating Definition:

The helmet is good, with some scuffs and cracks in the paint and decal and some mild staining and wear appropriate to age and use on the leather components. The cover is very good, with some usage tearing in the visor flap and light wear overall. A few tiny holes and stains are present in the cloth, which otherwise remains solid and strong, and all three spring hooks are in good working order.
