Description:

All three tunics are constructed in tan fabric with high collars, as typical of World War I American uniforms. 1) Tunic for an aviator first lieutenant with a set of silver bullion pilot wings on the left breast, silver finished brass bars on the shoulders, and brass "U.S." collar pins. No maker's marks are present. 2) Paris-made tunic with Buisson & Delorme tangs below the collar and inside the left interior pocket. No insignia are present, but stitching remnants and wear patterns suggest a lieutenant with pilot wings. One of the B&D tags is hand signed to a "Mr. Le Roy", not identified. 3) 3rd U.S. Army first lieutenant aviator's tunic, similar to 1 with the addition of a pair of bronze pilot wings to the collar, the 3rd Army "A" patch on the left shoulder above a copper-tone honorable discharge stripe and three gold overseas service chevrons (1.5 years abroad), as well as ribbons for the World War I Victory Medal (w/star) and the Army of the Occupation of Germany Medal. Consignor notes attribute tunic #3 to the Dallas Flight Museum.

Rating Definition:

1) Good with some bending of the collar pins and visible moth activity. 2) As 1 with some lost/torn stitching at the armpits. 3) Very good with mild staining and wear.
