Description:

Developed in 1942 under the fictional nomenclature "Flare Pistol, 45 Caliber", the Liberator was intended to be air dropped over Nazi occupied territory. Built from machine stampings welded around a smoothbore 45 ACP barrel, the single shot pistol was to be used by angry civilians to lash out at their oppressors and more coordinated partisans to kill Nazis and steal their (much more expensive) weapons. Stamped with an "F" inside the hammer slot, with two oiler holes on the left side, one on the right, a zinc cocking knob, hollow grip and sliding cover.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with mild scuffs and dings and 90% plus original phosphate finish. The seam weld on the front of the grip has come loose, but otherwise, the pistol is in excellent mechanical order.
