These pistols were contracted by the British War Office. In addition to the two-line/two-block address and patent dates, Rampant Colt and "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 455" on the slide and "GOVERNMENT MODEL" on the frame, the pistol shows "crossed pennant" proofs on the slide and frame, a Broad Arrow ahead of the slide stop and a "crown/U6/E" stamp on the trigger guard. "E" present internally on top of frame, rear of disconnector hole. Fitted with blade and flat top notch sights, long trigger, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, checkered grips, a "CAL.455/ELEY" magazine, and a replacement 45 ACP "C/P" stamped British proofed barrel.

Fine. 70% original blue finish remains with small nicks and dings throughout, high point and edge wear, and a mottled gray/brown patina on the grip straps. The grips are fair with heavily worn checkering, indentations, and bruises. Mechanically excellent.
