Probably Italian made, this flintlock pistol is marked "A NEUSTATT" on top of the barrel which features a gold blade front sight with gold inlaid around it. The lock is marked "G : BANCHI". Banchi was a gunmaker in Florence, Italy, circa mid 1700s. Iron hammer, flash pan, frizzen and spring with silver ramrod pipes with fancy decorative finial, trigger guard with fancy decorative finial, decorative thumb shield, left side plate and buttcap. The stock has some decorative carving with a 6 3/4" wooden ramrod. A classic Florentine pistol from circa 1740.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The iron surfaces have a brown patina with some minor pitting on the barrel (a little heavier flash pitting at the breech end) and on the lock plate. The silver is very fine with some dark aging in the protected areas. The tangs of the trigger guard and right side of the buttcap extension are secured with small nails. The stock is good having been period varnished. There appears to be an old repair around the wrist area that was period repaired/filled. Almost all of the carving remains crisp. There are a few overall scattered minor gouges, dents and dings. The action functions properly.
