This revolver was manufactured in 1978, the first year the "SA" was used a the serial number prefix, and interestingly is missing the "S" from the serial number on the bottom of the frame. The correct "SA" prefix was used when the matching serial number was stamped on the grip straps and is marked on the included factory "woodgrain" box. The grips are also marked with the partial matching serial number. All other markings and features are standard. 3,917 revolvers in the P-1770 configuration were listed in Wilkerson's 1976-1986 survey.

Excellent with 99% plus original blue and casehardened finish remaining, showing some very faint rotation and handling marks and some dust/dirt in the checkering. The box is good with minor storage wear.
