Manufactured in 1897. The top of the barrel has the two line address ahead of the rear sight and "50 EX" at the breech. The left side at the breech is marked with a "crown/GP", "crown/V" and the London proofmarks followed by an upside-down "500 EX". The upper front left of the receiver is marked with a "crown/V" proof. The upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-", and the two patent dates are marked on the lower tang directly behind the trigger and the serial number on the end. It has a dovetailed blade front sight, three leaf Winchester express rear sight and smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a shotgun buttplate. The right rear of the stock is stamped "61".

Fair. There is a trace of thin original blue finish on the right rear of the receiver with a smooth brown and gray patina on the balance of the metal surfaces. The takedown ring at the base of the barrel has been filed down slightly and cold blued over the dings. There are a few scratches on the left side of the receiver. The wood is also fair with some minor gouges on the right side of the forearm, some minor age cracks on the left rear of the stock, three holes in the area of a sling swivel on the stock, and overall some minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The magazine tube ring has been soldered on. The action is fine.
