Manufactured in 1895, this Winchester Model 1886 saddle ring carbine is chambered in the seldom encountered 40-82 WCF caliber. The barrel has pinned blade front and folding ladder rear sights, the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "40-82/WCF" at the breech. The receiver has a saddle ring on the left side, "-MODEL 1886-" marked on the upper tang and two-line/two-patent dates marking and serial number on the lower tang. Mounted on a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The refinished barrel and magazine retain heavy amounts of blue finish in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth brown patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina with traces of silvered out case colors visible in the protected areas. The lightly sanded, refinished wood is good with some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
