This Model 1892 was manufactured in 1896. The top of the barrel has the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "44 WCF" at the breech. The upper tang has the three-line model/maker/patent date information. Brass blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated to "20," saddle ring on the left side of the receiver and smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. The accompanying Cody Museum letter states that the serial number was applied on November 4, 1896, and verifies the carbine configuration, caliber, that it was received in the warehouse on December 31, 1896, and shipped in order number 1671 on January 2, 1897.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished with the metal surfaces currently having an artificial smooth brown patina. The revarnished wood shows some scattered minor dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
