Manufactured in 1890 and subsequently masterfully engraved and reconfigured to 22 RF. The barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder flats and back strap are nicely engraved with floral scroll designs with a punch dot background. There is also a sunburst and dot pattern at the rear of each cylinder flute, scallop line bordering on the lower portion of the back strap and a checker board pattern on the upper front of the frame directly ahead of the cylinder. Directly under the cylinder pin is signed "J. ADAMS". The top of the barrel is marked with the one line Colt address and the left side "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER/CAL .22 LONG RIFLE". The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates in a banner followed by the Rampant Colt and the upper left front of the trigger guard is marked "44CAL". Silver plated with fire blue screws, trigger, cylinder pin and ejector rod head, casehardened hammer and fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip.

Fine as professionally custom embellished and rechambered to 22RF. 99% of the silver plating remains with some minor pitting under the finish in the rear sight cut out and overall light handling marks. 99% of the bright fire blue finish remains. The breech of the black powder frame has been milled to accommodate the rimfire hammer. The grip is excellent with only light handling marks. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
