Description:

Manufactured in 1907 as a 44-40, 4 3/4 inch nickel plated finish Colt Single Action Army. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" on the left side and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap with the assembly number "2491" on the loading gate. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish, grips as "Not Listed" and that it was sold to N.C. Cotton Company and shipped to McIntosh Hardware Company, Albuquerque, Territory of New Mexico as 1of 2 on April 22, 1907. Obviously, a New Mexico Territory cowboy or lawman needed a companion 44-40 Colt Single Action Army for his Winchester rifle!

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% plus untouched original nickel finish with some wear on the muzzle and outer edge of the ejector housing and flaking on the cylinder and frame around the cylinder. The grips are very good with a period applied set of initials carved into the bottom of the right panel and "HEM" on the left panel. There is some minor lower edge wear and moderate wear to the checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
