Description:

Offered here is a factory documented special order half nickel Winchester Model 1890 slide action rifle. The magazine and barrel have a blue finish, and the frame, bolt, trigger guard and buttplate are nickel plated. The included factory letter confirms the caliber and "nickel trim." The rifle was received in warehouse on 5 June 1905 and shipped the next day. The rifle went for "repair and return" on two separate occasions: 4 May 1909 and 20 October 1909. The barrel has a dovetail blade front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight and is marked with the two-line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight and "22 SHORT" at the breech. The Winchester factory oval proof is marked on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The matching serial number is on the frame and trigger guard. Mounted on a 12 groove round forearm and smooth straight grip stock.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 60% faded original blue finish thinning to a brown mixed with smooth gray patina. There is 90% plus original nickel finish on the frame and 60% on the buttplate. The wood is very fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
