Description:

Offered here is a Bullard Schuetzen rifle with detachable-interchangeable barrel. Only a single barrel is included. Bullard manufactured various versions of single shot rifles from 1883 to 1890, and overall production is estimated to be limited. These rifles are noted for their smoothness of operation and quality craftsmanship. This rifle is listed by serial number in G. Scott Jamieson's book "Bullard Arms" on page 235. The rifle has a target weight barrel with beaded blade front and fixed notch rear sights. It is also equipped with a tang peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked "22/15" along with the two-line address/patent information. The barrel is numbered to the gun. The trigger has a smooth face, the hammer, breechblock and lever are casehardened, and the Swiss buttplate is nickel plated. Mounted on a nicely figured and checkered forearm and pistol grip stock.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 97% of the blue finish with an overcoat of period applied protective varnish, showing some loss at the muzzle and breech. 85% of the case colors remain. The buttplate retains 75% frosted nickel finish. The wood is also fine with some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
