Description:

This late 18th century style rifle has no visible signature and has plain metal surfaces, but the stock has distinct shell raised relief carving at the breech and ramrod entry pipe, tear drop flats, C scrolls on the right side of the butt, and the Roman nose profile popular on Pennsylvania rifles. The overall style resembles the work of the Reading School and the rifles often attributed to Wolfgang Haga. It has traditional blade and notch sights, a plain lock, plain trigger, wear/repair plate that wraps around the trigger guard, spire points on the ramrod finial and toe plate.

Rating Definition:

Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration. The barrel and lock have brown patina, mild oxidation, and flash pitting at the breech., The brass has aged patina throughout. The stock is fine with slivers absent on the right above the nose of the lock and the edge of the forend, some mild cracks in the forend, additional cracks stabilized by the wear plate on the bottom, attractive figure, scattered scratches and dings, and distinct carving. Mechanically good.
