Manufactured in 1901. According to the accompanying factory letter this shotgun was one of several shotguns of various grades that were shipped to "The Fair" in Chicago, Illinois on August 19, 1901. There is no other information on this shotgun in the letter and the letter states that no information was found for any Fair in Chicago in 1901. "The Fair" was a chain of Chicagoland department stores from the late 19th to mid 20th century. The shotgun featured a single brass bead sight on the concave matte solid rib marked "<--PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN, CONN. TITANIC STEEL.-->" near the breech. The action, trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware are engraved with floral designs. In addition the has a hunting dog on point on each side and four game birds in a field scene on the underside. 3 inch chambers, choked full/full with extractor. The matching serial number is marked on the lower tang, barrel lug, water table and on the forearm hardware. Blue barrels, trigger guard and break lever with casehardened remaining metal surfaces, double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety, and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with a horn Parker Bros. grip cap, checkered bare butt with engraved skeletonized buttplate and silver initial oval. Drop at the heel is 3 inches, drop at the comb is 1 7/8 inches and the length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.

Very good. The barrels retain 90% of the original blue finish with some areas thinning to a smooth gray. There is some scattered light spotting. The trigger guard has a smooth gray patina with thin streaks of original blue finish The receiver retains 20% original bright case colors, concentrated mainly in protected areas and on the upper tang. The balance has a smooth gray patina. The trigger guard plate retains 80% original bright case colors. The forearm hardware has a smooth gray patina. The wood is good as freshened. The forearm is a much darker wood, and overall there are scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine.
