Description:

This mid to late 19th century rifle has an imported Partridge marked lock with scrollwork and hunting scene patterns secured by a screw into the breech plate rather than one or two cross screws. The rifle has no other visible markings, but was likely manufactured in the Northeast or Upper Midwest based on its overall style. It is equipped with a 36 1/2 inch long scope with "turret style" elevation adjustment wheel at the upper tang, adjustable double set triggers, German silver fittings, a false muzzle, and smooth walnut half stock with small cap box and a cheekpiece with a hunter's star inlay. It was never cut for iron sights.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel displays dark brown patina, patches of mild pitting, and some minor marks. The lock and false muzzle retain 85% plus of the period applied nickel plating. The flaked areas have dark patina and oxidation. The German silver components have minor aging, marks, and some verdigris. The lock and set triggers are mechanically fine. The re-oiled stock is also very good with mild chips and slivers absent along the inlets, cracks at the forend cap and flats, absent inlay on the left flat, and minor marks and scratches. The scope is good with dark flash wear above the lock, dark aged patina throughout, fuzzy optics, and some dents.
