SMITH/BUFFALO/N.Y." on top near the breech, a hunting scene and scrollwork marked lock without visible maker's mark, pewter forend cap, small round trigger guard and plain trigger, and a "perch belly" shape to the butt.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The lock and shortened barrel have a mix of dark and light patina, moderate pitting, and some oxidation. The muzzle is mostly bright. The brass parts have primarily aged patina and show signs of recent filing and some small chips absent. The second ramrod pipe is a replacement. The refinished and partially repaired stock has chipping and a crack at the lock inlet, a repaired break in the wrist, and an extra cross pin hole. Mechanically fine.
