Description:

Measuring 37 inches overall, with a 26 1/4 inch blade showing a wavy hamon fitted into a silver finished habaki. The furniture is of the World War II standard "shin gunto" pattern, with a braided yellow tassel hanging from the kashira. The tang is mildly aged, with a single mekugi-ana, a 4-symbol white paint marking on the right side, and a "Showa" (army) stamp over a 9-figure signature. Notes from the consignor attribute the signature to the Swordsmith Yoshimune, a Showa-era smith active starting in 1943.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The excellent blade is bright overall with some light rubbing, a few small patches of spotting, and a well defined hamon. The grip wrap shows light staining from hand oil, and some light verdigris is present on the habaki, otherwise the furniture is in prime condition.
