Description:

This rifle has "1868" on the side plate, standard style blade and notch sights, fairly heavy barrel with no visible markings, simple engraving on the cheekpiece inlay and the patch box, heart shaped piercing on the patch box finial, game scene marked J. Tarratt & Sons lock, double set triggers, and bird's eye and flame figured stock.

Rating Definition:

Good overall with a mostly even dark brown along the barrel with some gray patina at the edges, heavy flash pitting at the breech as well as a flash guard over the damaged wood, moderate pitting and a lighter gray-brown patina on the lock, partially bright brass, and some minor nicks and scratches on the wood and metal. Mechanically needs work.
