This is an excellent example of a pre-war Colt Government model 45 ACP semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured in 1926. This was the first of the 1911A1 style Colt automatic pistols. It has the Colt prewar high polish blue finish with checkered walnut grips. The slide is marked with the standard two line, two block patent date markings and address on the left side with the right side marked with: "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .45" followed by the Rampant Horse logo. The right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over serial number "C150006". The right side of the trigger guard is stamped "47" and the left side is stamped "W/VP" in a triangle proof. The rear of the slide is stamped with the matching serial number. It has all the correct early style Colt parts to include the original Colt all blued barrel with the polished chamber area. The barrel is marked with only a single letter "S" on the underside. It is fitted with a set of fully checkered walnut grips. It comes with a Colt maroon shipping box with the correct factory labels on the end. The underside has been spuriously marked with the matching serial number using a white wax type marker. The box contains a Colt factory instruction sheet/advertisement an original copy of the Colt special instructions sheet and an original small single instruction sheet on the use of the proper ammunition.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original Colt factory blued finish with a hint of edge, high spot wear and some scattered surface scratches. The markings are clear and distinct. The grips are very fine with nice sharp distinct checkering overall showing only a couple minor nicks/handling marks in the checkering. The box is in fair condition with all the corners and edges having been reglued with a couple improperly repaired. The outside of the box retains 80% of the maroon cover still intact.
