Description:

Part of a limited one year run exclusively for the United States Navy, this pistol was part of a batch of 396 shipped from Colt to the Naval Supply Depot at Sewalls(aka Sewells) Point, Virginia (a component of Naval Station Norfolk) on November 25th, 1939. At this point in production, the Government had ceased using branch-particular nomenclature on 1911A1s purchased for the Navy and the Marine Corps, hence why this pistol is marked "U.S. ARMY" on the frame. Round blade front and flat top notch rear sights, with the two line, two block address/patent marking with the Rampant Colt in the center on the left side of the matching numbered slide and "P" on top. The frame is marked "P/H" near the magazine catch, with "T/VP" and "99" on the trigger guard and the aforementioned Army nomenclature. Fitted with a short milled trigger, long grip safety, wide checkered hammer, arched checkered mainspring housing, checkered concave back grips and a "COLT 45 AUTO" barrel with a small "G" ahead of the lug.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing some cold blue touch-up spots on slide, a mixed gray patina in the grip region, mild brown spotting concentrated on the slide, light handling marks and bright edge wear. The grips are excellent, with a few mild dings. Mechanically excellent.
