Description:

Originally produced in November of 1944, this M1 rifle has been arsenal upgraded to the M1D Sniper configuration, a procedure more typically performed on Springfield-made M1 receivers. Rifles so converted were used as sniper weapons during Korea and the Vietnam War. Blade front and peep rear sights with a "DRC" windage drum, Springfield bolt, trigger guard, hammer, housing, operating rod and "S-A-9-52" dated barrel. The barrel is the correct M1D configuration. Fitted with the correct M1D single screw scope mount and M84 telescopic sight (serial number 41714). Mounted on an oil finished walnut stock and handguard set with a partially boxed "SA" inspection mark on the left side, single circled "P" on the underside of the wrist, sling swivels, and a stamped checkered steel trapdoor buttplate. The rifle includes a shipping box containing a T37 pronged flash suppressor, padded leather cheekpiece, cleaning kit, oiler, and bill of sale

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine as arsenal refurbished and placed in M1D configuration. 99% of the post-war gray green parkerized finish remains with a few scattered light handling marks and some light cycling marks on the receiver rail. The stock is very fine with crisp markings and a few scattered dings. Mechanically excellent. The scope is excellent with a few light surface scratches and very clear optics.
