Description:

Designed for use on small ranges, the Hoffer-Thompson is equipped with a 22 caliber bore and a chamber sized for a 22 Short cartridge adaptor. The adaptors would be loaded, chambered and ejected like 30-06 rounds, giving the Gallery Rifle the same manual of arms as the issue-model Springfield. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights graduated to "27", with a "SA/ordnance bomb/9-12" marked barrel. The top of the receiver bridge is stamped "22". The slanted bolt handle is unmarked. Smooth straight wrist stock, with "H" stamped on the bayonet lug, "J.F.C." cartouche on the left side of the wrist (no circle "P", as is correct), and a fully checkered trapdoor buttplate. The rifle includes a Hoffer-Thompson .22 cartridge adaptor.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall. 30% original blue finish remains with light surface oxidation throughout, clear markings, handling marks overall, and some scattered nicks and dings. The fine stock has shallow pressure dents and scratches, well defined grasping grooves, and a clear cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
