Description:

This is a solid representative example of a U.S. Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol manufactured by Springfield Armory circa 1915. The left side of the slide has the standard two block markings with the Ordnance Corps shell and flame insignia located behind the slide serrations. The right side of the slide has the traditional large "Springfield Eagle/Shield" located behind the ejection port and the front area is marked "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY." The forward, left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and it is stamped with a Ordnance Corps shell and flame insignia above the magazine release. The right side of the frame is stamped with serial number "No 118913" behind the slide stop pin hole. The barrel has a small "S" and "P" proofs on the left side of the barrel lug. It is equipped with a long checkered hammer spur, short horn on the grip safety, thick thumb safety lever and a flat mainspring housing with the lanyard loop on the underside. It comes with a replacement WWII, two tone magazine that is stamped with a "L" on the base plate lip. It is complete with a 1912, "U.S." marked drop down holster. It has the second pattern swivel on the back and it is stamped "ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 1915 T.C.C.".

Rating Definition:

Very good with 30% of the blue finish remaining overall with the balance a dark brown patina. It has sharp markings and proofs. The grips are in fair condition overall showing heavier wear across the face of the grips with the lower left side showing considerable wear and abrasion from being in the holster. The holster is also in fair to good condition overall with considerable scuffing of the leather surface on the entire holster with tight stitching and partially clear markings on the back. A solid example of an early U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol.
