Description:

Manufactured early in 1917 as part of Colt's first assigned block for the year. The slide bears the two-line, two-block patent and address markings on the left side with the Rampant Colt at the rear, the right side is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY." It has a "GHS" inspected "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked frame, standard low profile fixed sights, unmarked two tone magazine and fitted with diamond pattern checkered walnut grips. Comes with a combination lock contemporary canvass covered hardcase with leather corner protectors and handle and wine colored velvet lining. In the case are 4 unmarked two tone magazines. The included letter confirms the configuration and was part of a 786 gun shipment to the U.S. commanding officer of Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, on May 23, 1917.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The pistol retains 75% original blue finish with some high point and edge wear, scattered minor thinning and some smooth gray patina on the back strap. "P.M.A." is crudely scratched into the right side of the frame directly below the serial number. The grips are also very good with wear on the lower edges, a couple of minor dings and some mild bruising in the otherwise crisp checkering. The markings are sharp. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good.
