Shipped out from the factory on January 3rd, 1918, as part of a 6,900 piece order that bypassed Springfield Armory and other stateside government facilities and was addressed directly to Ordnance Depot #6 of the American Expeditionary Force in France. The frame, in addition to the Smith "GHS" inspection mark, is marked "4/L4/HQ" beneath the slide stop, and the front strap is bears the struck-out marking "105 FAD 33"; no information was provided on these markings. Fitted with a flat top rear sight, wide checkered hammer, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing, "A" marked two-tone magazine and a "HP" marked barrel.

Rating Definition:

Good, with 20% of the blue finish, showing areas of gray patina, edge wear, and scattered dings and handling marks. The grips shows some flat spots and chips around the screws. Mechanically fine. Exact details on the service life of this pistol have not yet been uncovered, but the timing and destination of the shipment presents a high probability of having been carried into the field by an AEF soldier. Additional research may turn up something very interesting.
