The pistol has the standard two-line, two-block patent and address markings followed by the Rampant Colt and British crossed pennant markings behind the cocking serrations on the left side of the slide. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 455" (the last "5" has been defaced). The right side of the frame has the standard "GOVERNMENT MODEL" marking over the serial number with the distinctive "W" prefix found on British guns chambered for the .455 Webley Auto cartridge, and "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" in front of the slide stop hole on the right side of the frame. The left side of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proof and "7" inspectors mark. The right side of the frame is stamped with the broad arrow mark of crossed single tail pennants near the slide stop, and a "crown/G2/A" inspection mark above the magazine catch. The barrel is stamped with "crown/BV, crown/BP" and "crown/VP" proofs on the chamber. The barrel still has the .455 style head spacing lip under the chamber hood, although the pistol is now .45 ACP. Fitted with checkered double diamond pattern grips and includes a two-tone blue magazine with a lanyard staple.

Fine with slight modification of the caliber marking. 70% original blue finish remains with light spotting throughout, scratches, nicks and dings, high point and edge wear, and traces of lightly cleaning pin point pitting. Extensive marks are visible under the slide stop. The grips are very good with small dings throughout and well defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
