Description:

Manufactured in 1912 as part of the penultimate Navy serial number block for the year, bearing the original "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. NAVY" (serifed) nomenclature on the right side of the slide. When Colt began production of the 1911, they originally provided different slide nomenclature for the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and would ship the pistols directly to the appropriate facilities. This lasted until WWI. As the Navy marked 1911s were among some of the earliest 1911s received by the military, many were used to the point of virtual destruction, and many more were subjected to arsenal overhaul or 1911A1 part retrofits, leaving few surviving examples in any condition. This particular example was completely refinished by the Colt factory to commercial quality specifications. Standard markings and features with the aforementioned "NAVY" mark and a "COLT 45 AUTO" barrel. The property and inspection markings have been removed from the left side of the frame. Includes a blue "COLT/45 AUTO." marked magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very good as factory refinished, showing 85% of the factory high polish blue, with some mild spotting, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. The grips are fine, with some mild dents. Mechanically excellent.
