Manufactured in 1942. This scare U.S. marked Model 12 Riot Gun has a commercial blue finish. Fitted with a checkered hard rubber buttplate. "U.S." and the Ordnance "Shell and Flame" insignia are roll-stamped on the right side of the receiver below the ejection port. A small "Shell and Flame" insignia is stamped on the top of the barrel just ahead of the Winchester proofmark. The Ordnance final inspection mark which consists of the initials "W.B." in a rectangle above a small (1/4-inch) Ordnance escutcheon is stamped on the left side of the stock. Standard Winchester markings with a 2 3/4 inch chamber and cylinder choke. The underside of the barrel is dated "42". A small "W" inspection mark is stamped on the underside of the receiver in front of the loading port.

Rating Definition:

Fine as modified (barrel shortenend) with 90% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with blue loss on the slide action pump and magazine tube with a heavier gouge on the left side of the receiver. The stock retains 90% of it original stock varnish and now shows numerous light pressure dents/dings on the sides with finish loss on the underside by the toe of the buttplate. The boxed cartouche on the side of the stock is clear and distinct. As noted, this has a shortened barrel which indicates that it was converted from a long barreled aerial target training shotgun into this riot configuration at some point.
